In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a love of music among students while developing their musical talents and skills. This position entails creating and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that engages students from diverse backgrounds in a supportive and positive learning environment. The primary assignment will be teaching general music classes at the elementary level, which includes incorporating a variety of musical styles and instruments to stimulate creativity and cultural awareness. The educator will also be expected to organize performances and community events that showcase the students’ musical achievements. Working alongside other faculty members, the individual will contribute to the overall educational mission of the district, encouraging students not only to excel in their musical endeavors but also to develop essential life skills such as discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for music education and a commitment to student success. The position will also include Assistant Band Director duties as assigned by the Director of Bands, primarily during the marching band season, with the possibility of leading the Junior High band. All qualified candidates will be considered, not all candidates will be interviewed. The Louise ISD Bands have experienced and enjoyed a series of recent successes, including qualifying for the UIL State Marching Band Championships in 2023 (first time in school history), and 2024; as well as earning the program's first ever UIL Sweepstakes Award in 2024. Primary Responsibilities (not limited to): *Implement engaging general music curricula for elementary students (Spotlight Series). *Conduct regular rehearsals for band programs and prepare students for performances. *Teach essential music theory, instrumental techniques, and music history to students. *Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation. *Organize and coordinate performances, including concerts, recitals, and community events. *Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their musical skills. *Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate music education across the curriculum. Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. *Valid Texas teaching certification in music education (or the eligibility to obtain). *Proven experience in teaching music at the elementary and secondary levels (2-3 years preferred). *Strong proficiency in instrumental pedagogy. *Knowledge of various musical genres and instructional techniques. *Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and parents. *Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and contribute to a positive school and program culture.
